I’ve been broadcasting on radio for over 25 years, (‘too long’ they all shout!) and one of the
things I have taken a keen interest in over that time are radio voices. We can all name great radio voices, Bob Harris, John
Snagge (showing my age there!) Mike Parkin, John Peel, well the list would go on and on, but a few years ago I heard ‘the
voice of an angel’ (thanks to Celine Dion for the quote!). It comes from
a completely charming Swiss radio presenter called Mascha Santschi. Wow listening to Mascha was great! One problem though
she broadcasts in Schweitzerdeutsch dialect (Swiss German) so I didn’t understand much if any of what she was saying,
and what’s more Mascha can talk fast!! Maybe this then was a reason that I was becoming ‘intoxicated’ with
her voice, by sheer intonation and musicality alone.
There
was a young lady called Mascha,
who
Carlyboy pestered.. just ask her,
She
made the decree
‘Punished’
he’d be,
or
preferably something much harsher!
So who was this Mascha… well Mike and Rosemarie had tempted me with a few choice morsels of
information. She had been Vice Miss Switzerland in 2000/1, Miss Bern, and the face of the
Coop homewares Top Tip!! which numbers amongst a veritable feast of top name fashion, hosting and modelling assignments for
the likes of Kelloggs, Seat, Emmi, Venice
Beach and so on. Beautiful voice,
beautiful… well you get the idea! But, sparing her blushes, she is great to listen to, especially when she is talking
to telephone callers in her very friendly way. So I’m a fan you see! Actually,
to my ears, Radio BeO has a lot of great radio voices and personalities, it’s sounds a very friendly station, and I’m
happy to say that the folk that I have encountered there, including lovely Mascha, certainly bear that out.
Oh I'm a fan alright!
Mascha Melon... now I'm not saying anything!!!
It's a shower gel that the whole family are enjoying at the moment. Now I'm not saying anything..........again!
